a public service announcement to those struggling with depression

how do you define depression? how do you describe depression? how do you explain depression? how do you tell your friends what it is like to be depressed? those are hard question.

they are made even harder by the fact that the brain has been numbed and just its working right. sometimes the struggle is to put together letters to make words, words to make sentences and sentences to make coherent thoughts. and when we can’t put together those letters, words, sentences and thoughts people high tail it figuring you don’t want them around.

what if a fairy godmother could come by and >>poof<>Bing!<< will give you just such a thing. I apologize, I can’t be your fairy godmother today. but, i can have my fairy godmother to tell your fairy godmother about just such a place. my fairy godmother would pass along this video, a message to the depressed.

perhaps by having your friends, loved ones and neighbors watch this video, they would get answers to many of their question and better understand your current state of mind. they would be less likely to run away making it easier for you to get the support you want and so desperately need. this would be a good thing, even if it doesn’t strip seconds, minutes, hours, days, months or years from your depression.

About bipolarsojourner

i have struggled with episodic depression for years. i then received a diagnosis of being bipolar, only to find out i didn’t. ends up my psychiatrist really meant to say that multiple bouts of depression are often best treated like bipolar. i had already started this blog as bipolar sojourner and didn't want to switch it over. i am documenting my journeys through my depression jungle.

i hear ya. one thing it is is fun. not! somethings i the difference is living vs. experience. but, whether it’s your sentence or mine, people without depression can’t grasp that having really only lived one.. that’s one reason i like this video as it puts it in terms that the not depressed can grasp.
