ok fine

you may know the the acronym for fine, made famous in an aerosmith song, f.i.n.e. fine stood for f*cked up–insecure–neurotic-emotional.

imagein one of my recent support meetings, people kept talking about how they where doing fine. the aerosmith acronym came up. chuckles echoed throughout the room.

people started to substitute ok for fine in order to avoid the chuckles. someone said, “i wonder what ok stands for.”

then, a nearly impossible thing happened; i turned off my slow. methodical, introverted mind. within a second, i came up with and said, “off kilter”. laughter echoed throughout room.

now, neither of the usual copouts will be safe. the careful use of fine or ok will be needed in order to avoid the, “yeah, i know what that means.”

About bipolarsojourner

i have struggled with episodic depression for years. i then received a diagnosis of being bipolar, only to find out i didn’t. ends up my psychiatrist really meant to say that multiple bouts of depression are often best treated like bipolar. i had already started this blog as bipolar sojourner and didn't want to switch it over. i am documenting my journeys through my depression jungle.
